FAQs
What is the difference between Full Stem Mixing & 2-Track Mixing?
Full Stem Mixing requires both the instrumental trackouts and the vocal trackouts. These should be exported as individual WAV or MP3 files for each element within the song.
For example, the instrumental/beat should have separate files for each sound — such as guitars, piano, hi-hats, kick, snare, etc. — with no overlapping layers. Similarly, the vocals should be separated into individual tracks for leads, backing vocals, and ad-libs.
This method allows our engineers to deliver a far more detailed and dynamic mix compared to a standard 2-Track Mix.
A 2-Track Mix consists of the instrumental or beat as a single stereo file, along with separated vocal tracks (leads, backing vocals, and ad-libs). We allow up to five WAV or MP3 files for a 2-Track Mix. Anything beyond this will be classified and charged as a Full Stem Mix.
What is mastering?
Mastering is the final stage in preparing your track for release. This process enhances the song’s loudness, clarity, and overall character, ensuring it sounds balanced and consistent across all playback systems — including car speakers, headphones, large sound systems, and mobile devices.
Please note that mixing must be completed before mastering, as proper mastering relies on a fully mixed track.
Can I be present for the mix and/or master?
Yes — absolutely! However, please note that in-person attendance is not included in the standard price. If you’d like to be present during the session, we simply charge the studio hire rate, which ranges from $40–$60 per hour depending on the studio.
A mixing session can take up to 4 hours, while mastering generally takes no longer than 2 hours. Once your booking is confirmed, our team will reach out personally to organise a time that suits you.
What is a revision?
A revision is a new version of your track created based on your notes or feedback for changes to the mix and/or master. This allows you to fine-tune details until you’re completely happy with the result. Two revisions are included in the price, and any additional revisions are $100 each.
What Happens Next?
Once you’ve completed your booking, you’ll immediately receive a confirmation email and SMS with all the essential details, including a Google Drive link to upload your song, stems, and references.
Our team will also reach out personally within 24-48hrs to confirm your booking and discuss your vision for the project. From there, you can either leave it with us or book studio time to be present during the mixing and/or mastering process.
Your final product will be delivered within 7 days, including:
- A 24-bit 48kHz version and a 16-bit 44.1kHz version of the full mix and/or master
- The vocals only
- The instrumental/beat only
We can also create clean and/or performance versions of your track for $100 each.
If you’d like changes made, you can provide notes for revisions — two revisions are included (excluding studio time). Any additional revisions are $100 each.
